Okay so I'm going to take the October SAT and ACT and I need to know what the best breakfast is.

I've read that coffee is bad but on the other hand if you bring lots of sugary snacks like chocolate you can refuel yourself during the exam.

On the other hand I've read that "an english muffin with peanut butter" or "toast with egg" is the best because the protein and slow release carbs give you lots of energy and no "sugar highs."

Any suggestions? I want to have enough energy to finish this test!

4 Scrambled Eggs
4 Sausages
4 Strips of bacon

I felt full and energized during the test, so I guess it worked (though it is really fatening so just don't eat it everyday and you'll be fine) :)

I always had a toasted peanut butter & honey sandwich, usually with a glass of 100% juice, and then took a Diet Coke w/ me to drink on the way (somehow I always ended up having to drive at least 30 minutes to the test site XD). I brought water & Cheez-its, along with a granola bar, for during the actual test.

Bananas & other "brain foods" are good, and anything that'll last for the duration of the test - think endurance. Sugar will wear off too quickly & won't help much.

Definitely do not eat a bunch of sugary crap on test day. You will tire a lot faster. Don't make any sudden diet changes that day either. Not the day to find out that too much protein and stress are a bad combo (this happened to me on test day once!). Eating too much food will divert energy from your mental processes to digestion, so if you don't normally eat four eggs and all that grease for breakfast, I wouldn't do that on test day either.

A couple of eggs or a peanut butter and honey sandwich sounds like a good idea, although I'd do milk over juice personally, unless it's a low-sugar juice. A piece of fruit like a banana is a good idea also. An apple and a granola bar as snacks are good too, along with water.

Don't go overboard with anything and you should be fine. Especially caffeine or sugar. That can totally backfire.

ive always had two boiled eggs, toast w/ butter, and a glass of orange juice every time i had a test...and i always bring a granola bar to the test center for breaks

ah starbucks is life. I'd bring a granola bar, yes, but wrap it in a napkin before you start makin all sorts of cellophane noises in the testing hall. Not good.

This is what I usually do.....
I get up nice and early and go for a little swim approx 1.5 miles
Then I run to starbucks and get a Venti Carmel Frappachino (sp) Light Extra Carmel No whip cream double shot with 2 pumps of vanilla
I run back... and I eat 4 raw eggs.......and if I'm feeling good I may just add a 12 ounce filet.........

That was a joke

The main thing is not to break your routine......
You dont want to do something totally different than you do everyday... because then you will NOT know how your body will react!
Keep it simple!.... Toast and eggs and bring a little snack

I always make sure to eat some sort of bread just because carbs are supposed to keep you fuller longer..my worst nightmare is getting super hungry and having my stomach start growling like crazy in a quiet test room with an insane proctor who wants dead silence.
