Best Business School -- CC Transfer

I am a community college student in NJ and want to transfer to a good business school, The thing is I started with Comp Sci and didn’t do well as that was not my thing and my parents forced me to do that. I ended up withdrawing from courses, Got a few C’s in those subjects and then changed my major to Business Administration and now I have straight A’s in almost all my Business courses so far. Suppose I end up around 3-5 to 3.7 which schools do i have a chance to get in ?

  1. My parents are ready to pay anything so money is not an issue
  2. I am ready to apply OOS as well
  3. Will my computer science grades hurt my chance to get into good business schools ?
  4. Will my W's hurt me which were also because of Comp Sci ?
  5. Should I repeat those courses in which I did bad just to raise my GPA (Even though those courses are not my major courses as I told you those were necessary for comp sci not business)

How many credits do you have? Are they semester or quarter credits? Were you going to apply for transfer right now?

Nope @philbegas I’m talking in advance, so that I know what can I do once I complete my associates. I will complete my associates and then transfer as a junior. The main problem which I’m asking in the above questions and I’m worried about is I’m a brilliant student now when I started doing business but I was dumb and stupid and messed my stuff when I started college with computer science  so can you please answer my questions now
Thanks

I will transfer after completing my 62-64 Credits

Have you taken the ACT/SAT? What scores did you get?

@philbegas Nope I did my high schooling from India, I’m from US but raised in India

Ok a couple things:
I don’t know much about international students but don’t you need to take the TOEFL?

Do you have New Jersey residency?

@philbegas I was born in the US :stuck_out_tongue: and moved to India after middle school and now came back and almost completed CC

Oh okay, I didn’t know the timelines, like I said I don’t know all that much about TOEFL stuff.

The thing with transfer admissions is that it’s a lot harder to predict than freshman admissions. It’s really important to have a good list of reaches, matches, and safeties you would be happy with attending if necessary. That’s why I wanna know if you have NJ residency - because then you can have some cheap, decent b-school safeties/matches and get in-state price.

Besides that:

What other things do you prefer? Geographical areas, small vs big, which business concentration do you want?

There’s hundreds of b-schools so if money isn’t really a factor you can afford to be picky about other things.

@philbegas Yes I have NJ residency and I’m ready to go OOS as well so no problem with that, I’m looking to join Finance. I’m pretty sure even if I get rejected by OOS State schools the only reason will be my Comp Sci grades. I don’t know how do admission officers look into that. In reality it doesn’t make any sense looking at those grades because I tried that major and I didn’t like it and I’m joining B-School so why will they look at comp sci grades but I don’t know how this admission world works

That’s the thing - transfer admissions is much more fuzzy than freshman admissions. I know you have no problem with OOS but the reason I mention it is:
Let’s say you don’t get into reach schools and you get stuck at a safety school. You might as well get in-state tuition at that school BECAUSE perhaps afterwards you might decide to go to graduate school because you felt like you didn’t get enough opportunities from your safety school. However, grad school is pretty far down the line and you never know if your parents will still have money to pay for it or even want to! For that reason, I suggest having a transfer list of around 8-10 schools, and having TCNJ and Rutgers - New Brunswick on that list!

But besides that, I can help you come up with a preliminary list but it would be nice to know a few things like:
What kind of weather do you prefer:
What size school do you want:
Rural/Urban/Suburban setting?:
What area of the US or are there any specific states?

@philbegas Do you have any idea about Fox school of business (Temple University), Drexel or Rutgers Business School (New Brunswick ). I know RBS is good but what about the other too. I tried to find info about these but I think the cc threads for these Universities are limited ?

I would argue that RBS is better than both of those.

Drexel has a co op program that can be pretty cool because it gets you internships which can turn into job offers later on.

Temple isn’t anything spectacular but it gets the job done.

Can you afford the full price on those schools?

I would definitely recommend staying in New Jersey as those State schools most likely to accept all your credits.
Of course, colleges will look at your entire transcript when evaluating your records.
Would recommend as others have mentioned TCNJ as your first choice in NJ then Rutgers
Good luck

Thanks a lot guys

Hmm yes I can
