I am a student at community college looking to transfer for the Fall of 2020. I have a 3.67 GPA and I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa at my school. I live in Illinois so I am looking for good business schools in the midwest or I would like to give California a try. Additionally, I am looking for colleges that are great for transfer students and somewhere that would make my transition easy. I like the idea of larger schools with good student life and decent party culture.
Colleges I have already applied to or will be applying to:
-Loyola Marymount (Applied)
-Depaul (Applied)
-Illinois State (Applied)
-U of Arkansas
-UW-Madison
-UMN twin-cities
-USC
-U of Miami
and maybe University of Michigan & University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
I would appreciate any recommendations and especially those where you think I can get in with my GPA. Thanks!
What can your parents afford to pay?
Start there.
University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Univ. of Nebraska at Lincoln, Univ. of Kansas, Michigan State University.
My suggestions come with the understanding that your first semester college GPA was a 2.9 at Iowa State University.
Isn’t Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business an obvious option?
IU-Kelley might be a bit of a reach. Tough to gain entry if not a direct admit.
Kelley IS a great school but it is not direct admit. Otherwise, I would definitely apply and attend if I could.
Not sure if LMU fits the larger and decent party culture. It’s a great school, Im a huge fan, but 6000 students, no big sports, no residential Greek life, FYI…that’s why I say that.
I’ve heard that it’s easy to transfer into Ohio State. If that’s true, that fits your bill…good business school, huge size, and school spirit and party culture.
Yeah… LMU is a maybe school for me because I don’t even know if I will get in. Their business school is good and I like the idea of being in California. It is something that I will take into consideration though. Thanks!
IU-Kelley is definitely a “direct admit” business school for incoming freshmen.
