So I thought we needed a new thread. Post here if you are a finalist in this scholarship competition and have any questions or responses.

I was wondering how the program decides who gets the $10,000 award vs. the $1,500 award if we are only submitting 2 service projects and our transcripts? There is no essay right?

Yes, I received an e-mail indicating I was a finalist. It arrived on the 18th with a follow-up e-mail on the 19th. Check your spam box...just in case it went there.

yeah, i also received an email on the 18th. i was wondering the same thing about how many finalists there are and how many finalists get the scholarship. from what i was reading on this site, it seems like most of the finalists get the scholarship. i really i hope i get it because duke is soo expensive

BS, they don't have an essay this year. That means it'll basically be chosen based on who has the best stats...**** ****** you best buy, ****!!!

i used to work at bestbuy, but didnt put it on the app. best buy ****ed me off so i left and now im a finalist to the same store that i hated so much

I am a finalist also. It's so difficult to pick just two community service/volunteer work that I've done. What do you guys think they evaluate finalists on since there was only like one form?

I would like to get some ideas about the employment portion -- My D is basically self-employed. She has her own web design business and she currently has three or four projects/clients she is working for. Do you think she should list that or just leave it blank since she does not have the normal "employment" job, etc. Your thoughts and input are appreciated!!
