Best Campus Environment (most fun)

Out of the top 10-15 schools, which offers the best environment to live in? Best social scene, most interesting people, most friendly people, nicest campus, nicest area around campus, etc...

If you had to choose a school based solely upon your experience during the two years you were there, which would you pick??

stanford by a mile

Really? Id say Columbia/NYU. Can’t beat NYC

i’m going on the categories that storch gave…NYC isn’t known for friendly people and great campuses, and i would say stanford has people with the most interesting and diverse backgrounds

edit: thought this was posted in the Ugrad forum. Graduate business school is a different beast though. If you’re in a big city, you’re probably good. (removed comment denouncing NYU’s scene)

University of Texas would be my choice for #1. It’s in Austin, near downtown. Both the live music scene and the bar scene in Austin are unparalleled anywhere in the US. UT has the most extensive university bus system in the country, which includes transportation to and from the bars. The weather is among the best. Austin has several lakes and lots of parks (always ranked at or near the top of the greenest cities in the US). The area around the university is very walkable, and people ride their bikes all over the city.

That being said, this is very subjective, based on one’s interests.

First of all, I do not find that people are unfriendly in NYC… it is definitely an acquired taste for people that are not from there, but to label ‘people in NYC’ as unfriendly is not fair.
Second, NYU is slightly spread out, but Columbia has a very nice campus.
And if you are referring to grad school for a MBA, then you would be hard pressed to find a better city to live in while studying business and making connections.

If you are talking about socializing as a driving force of a decision (for your undergrad degree I presume) that still offer great academics, my short list would have to be Virginia, UNC, Michigan, UCLA and Penn State (with PSU being one of the most amazing college atmospheres I have ever witnessed).

tuck school at dartmouth

Of all the business schools that I’ve been to, I like HBS, Berkeley-Haas and Wharton the most. That’s how I would rank them. Of course, that includes the interior of the schools, though I haven’t really been to around those schools’ facilities and classrooms. But I’ve fairly seen the interiors of their buildings and they’re, for me, the top 3 in terms of best campus environment. Although that might change when Stanford’s b-school building is finished.

Stanford, easily.
