I am a student who was accepted in february, but i just finally decided to attend Michigan. I know there are already some threads regarding dorms, but i was just wondering if anyone could give me any more or detailed information about what campus i should request to live on next year. i dont think you can request specific dorms, but is there anywhere i should try to get or try not to get? also what are the pros and cons of each campus, and how far are the all really from one another? thanks!

The central neighborhood is what most people consider to be the "best". It's right in town and such. North campus is home to the school of music, engineering, and a few other programs. However, even my friends in engineering still had most of their freshman classes on central campus. North campus can also be a pain cus you have to take buses everywhere.

North campus is the more modern of the two, and it's really nice and there are lots of trees and nature. The two campuses are only like a mile or two apart. Central campus has the older buildings and is right in the downtown area of Ann Arbor.

thanks, that helps.
also what about Hill? is that just part of central campus?

The Hill area is near the hospital. There are 5 dorms there - except one is going to be closed for renovation. You will be asked to indicate if you prefer North or Central/Hill. Most students prefer Central/Hill -- but the reality is that 1/3 of freshmen are on North Campus. Central is mostly for uppperclass, Honors, Residential College. There are 4 all-female dorms -- Barbour, Newberry and Martha Cook on Central. And Stockwell on the Hill.
