Emma Willard IS beautiful - inside and out. Marble and dark wood, leaded windows. It’s stunning. I don’t care for the library or the chapel though.

I seriously considered applying to Emma Willard but its average SSATS/courses were around the same as my local magnet school so I didn’t. I thought it looked amazing in the brochure though.
I loved SPS, Deerfield and Groton purely campus wise in that order… I’ve only visited 5 schools though so I’m no expert.

my mom wanted me to apply there but i forgot about it when it was time to do everything app related

MX is gorgeous too yet another place I wish I applied

Choate – for the buildings, the architecture (IM Pei), and how it feels when you walk around campus.
Tabor – for the water view
Avon Old Farms – for the lovely feeling of the buildings – great place to take photos
Loomis Chaffee – for the driveway in

I think I could find something pretty about all of the school’s grounds. They all have places that make them standout.

The drive up to Berkshire was nice. They just over renovated the buildings so that totally nix-ed it for me. The campus minus the buildings is v.v. nice though :)

Weston Middle School!!! lol my public school now, I think it’s…rustic

NMH!!! We went there and snuck into all the buildings in the beginning of last summer. It was surrounded by foliage, and you can see everything from up on the hill. Their arts center is also amazing, as are their newer dorms and the path up.

Lawrenceville is amazingly gorgeous. Just the layout of the campus is genius…don’t even get me started on the rural setting…

NMH definitely. I don’t like Deerfield’s campus as much because it’s kind of confusing being in the middle of a historic town.

I second dapple. L’ville is stunning. Son described it as a cross between SPS and Exeter.

bump.bump.

The remarkable thing about NMH’s physical self is its location above the Connecticut River…you leave a building and just stand there a second looking out toward the hills on the other side, stunned by the broad sweep of that view. Some days, from some corners, you can see all the way to Mt. Monadnock in Vermont. Other schools may be prettier in one way or another, but I can’t think of one that has a better view from campus.

I don’t like all their buildings – a few too many flat '70’s constructs – but every school has a few duds. They do have an exceptional chapel with beautiful woodwork and the library reminds me of those charming WPA buildings from the '30’s…much nicer than a ‘media center’. There are sweet little houses on campus as well and a variety of dorm styles, including some Swiss-style dorms for freshman classes that are from the 1890’s.

We didn’t choose it for its looks but I think that the view is inspiring. It reminds people to look up and out instead of keeping the head down and the view inwards.

That’s some impressive view . . . since Mt. Monadnock is in New Hampshire, and at least 20 miles east of the Connecticut River!

Taft - took our breath away, even though son did not apply

Loomis - love the quad and the beautiful fields and drive

New Hampton - a quaint village look, particularly nice in the snow

St. Georges - wow.

We were impressed with Loomis and Taft and they made the final list. I think the quad at Loomis has a lovely feeling. My son really liked the interior of Taft.
We also loved St. Georges but son did not apply.
Andover and Exeter felt like college campuses and were nice but not the right feeling for son.
I must say I personally did not like the cafeteria at Exeter but everything else was very impressive.
Berkshire,Msex,Groton and Hotchkiss provides wonderful views of their NE surroundings.
We found all these schools well kept.

Favorites (ranked in no particular order): Avon, Taft, Deerfield, Berkshire, Groton, Hotchkiss, Pomfret. I also liked Governor’s small intimate campus.

Dislikes: Vermont (old, tired & threadbare), Proctor (a bunch of white clapboard houses), NMH (ugly angular 1970s-era buildings albeit on a lovely physical setting), Lawrence (disjointed), Tabor (see NMH comment).

i thought Groton was gorgeous from the pictures and I LOOVE Lawrenceville’s campus. Absolutely beautiful and in an amazing locationn!

Groton’s campus stood out to me when I toured last year.
