Best cell phone carrier in the Bay Area?

Hello. I will be attending Berkeley this fall and I was wondering what is the best cell phone carrier in the Berkeley area. I am pretty interested in getting 4G LTE so testimonials with that kind of reception would be more than welcome. Also if anyone uses a MVNO like Straight Talk or Red Pocket that input would greatly appreciated.

I’ve had T-Mobile for two years now and it’s been great! Especially having a T-Mobile smartphone, I have the Wi-Fi Calling feature which definitely comes in handy when I’m at a dead spot like Soda Hall. My friends have Verizon and they seem to have better signal most of the time. I would sometimes not get signal in Dwinelle but they’d have a couple bars.

Verizon is the best. AT&T is your only other option for LTE, but isn’t quite as good.

As an example… I get 35Mbps/15Mbps on Verizon’s LTE network on my iPad in Berkeley. Call quality on my iPhone is very solid as well.

I’m not sure about the 4G LTE, but Verizon has been great overall for me. I get service pretty much everywhere whereas my AT&T friends don’t (especially on the North side/Foothill area).

Never had a problem with Verizon on or near campus.

i have tmobile and i never have service at mainstacks or at haas. i think it depends on your phone. some of my friends with tmobile have no trouble

For Sprint, coverage is decent to good outside Berkeley buildings - inside buildings, there is little to no coverage.

Tmobile is the worst! 4g is amazingly fast…if you have surface. I was a Molecular Toxicology major and most science buildings you won’t get service… Pimentel, vlsb, mulford.

Well this is more the case. When you’re inside or underground. Its good outdoors.
