Too bad your phone isn't quad band. My friend has a tri band phone with Cingular and his reception is only a little better than mine on Tmobile. Although he doesn't experience many drop calls. Maybe its your phone?

GSM is the reason why Verizon will never own Cingular (at least for me).

your Z800 doesnt have the 850mhz band, which Cingular uses extensively. without it, you basically have the same coverage as T-mobile.

but of course, cell service is a big YMMV topic. two people with the same carrier and same phone can be standing 50 feet apart and experience completely different service.

definitely. being able to use unlocked, unbranded phones is priceless. i love my SE K790a. :D

it CAN be the best depending on where you are, but you need a phone with 850mhz to take advantage of the full network. no one company is THE best... everyone has coverage holes in different places. the best company is the company with the least dead spots in the places you frequent.

and you dont necessarily need quadband with cingular. as long as you have 850 and 1900 you're good. can be dual band 850/1900. triband 850/900/1900 or 850/1800/1900, or quadband 850/900/1800/1900. 900 and 1800 arent used in north america so it has no effect on your reception if you have those bands or not.

I'd have to agree with VTE. Just personally, I can't go with Verizon or Sprint because of the lack of GSM, so that leaves T-mobile and Cingular. Out of the two, Cingular is the clear winner.

i still hate cingular... especially when it drops a call RIGHT BEFORE i'm gonna say goodbye and hang up.
"do i call back? do i pretend i hung up? if i don't call back... she'll think i hung up on her... but she might assume we were just done talking... what am i gonna do, call back, say hellogoodbye? ooh that's a good band... ummm... maybe i should call back now..."
