best cellphone carrier for stanford?

hi-
what is the cell phone coverage like on campus? We have t-mobile and I've heard that doesn't work well on campus. Any suggestions on which carrier would be best?
thanks!

AT&T. Nothing else works on campus.

well t-mobile is okish....it works like only outside the dorms lol...

get cingular or att or watever its called now

CINGULAR ALL THE WAY. Or Sprint, I've heard their service works on campus nowadays.

thanks! seems pretty unanimous for at&t

If you have Sprint keep it. It has worked well for me when I visited and I have heard from others its good.

I don't recommend Verizon =/ I have it because my whole family and my boyfriend have Verizon, and I can talk to them for free. However, I have no reception on the 1st floor of most buildings :(

T-mobile will get you by, Cingular is much much better. Or I guess the new AT&T now...

cingular/att. wait till you get to campus to sign up, if you haven't already. major discounts.

I'm trying to decide whether to stick with 450 min/month or move up to 900. For those of you using your cell phone as your primary means of communication, approximately how many min/month do you use?

Remember that mobile to mobile minutes are free. Almost everyone on campus will have ATT/Cingular so probably anyone you call on campus will be free. I would imagine that 450 minutes would be more than enough. I guess it depends how often and how long you plan to talk to your family and friends at other schools.

Make sure you have some kind of texting options in your plan as you will likely meet plenty of people with affinities (to say the least) for texts, and you don't want to not be able to recieve their messages because it costs too much.

Oh, and get ATT. People will tell you that you can get buy with other carriers, but seriously, just do yourself a favor and get it. Otherwise you will undoubtedly find yourself halfway out a window on the top floor of the dorm triyng to get reception, or standing outside in the rain trying to make a call because your phone doesn't work indoors.
