Best Christian schools for me?

I'm going for a Biblical Studies major and a Business minor.

I'm not sure I will get into Wheaton, my top choice. There's no guarantees with my next two choices either (Covenant and Cedarville). I took honors classes for the most part (taking 2 APs senior year though), my GPA is a 3.85, and my SAT score was 2030. I'm very involved in extracurriculars too. I cheered and coached for a national champion team every year except this one. I'm a Key Club member and officer, a National Honor Society member (was in NJHS too), and I'm super involved in my local teenage Republican group. I also participate in my church's youth group and help out with children's ministry. Another thing that is worth mentioning would be my trip to Europe this summer with People to People student ambassadors. Lastly, my doctrinal stances are conservative by most standards. I attend a biblically grounded Presbyterian church, though I also like what the Baptist church is all about.

But my main question is this I guess- what schools should I look at based on my grades? Are they strong enough for the schools I'm most interested in? Please be honest and thanks in advance! :)

CElizabeth94 - If you are asking about which of these schools (and which similar schools) will your academic grades qualify you for, I would honestly think you are likely to be accepted at each of the schools you mentioned. Whether they are the right schools for you would depend on a lot more than how you “stack up” by your grades. I would be interested in what you hope to pursue with your biblical studies major which would help to determine the ways you might evaluate the individual campus environments and how they might help you best achieve your goals (i.e. some schools are discipleship based, others are evangelistic)…But if you just want to know whether you can succeed academically, as well as be accepted to these schools, I think you are probably fine with all three.

Thanks for your input! I’ve visited Wheaton and Covenant so far and felt good about both. Covenant matches my doctrinal stances very well. As for Wheaton, there are a bunch of different ideas floating around. At first I was worried that it may be too liberal for me (since it’s in Illinois), but then I decided I’m okay with being challenged and exposing myself to other approaches though. I also like how they have a missional, evangelism centered approach. Covenant does too but I felt like Wheaton was just a better environment for me. I was asking about my academic qualifications because I’m really nervous about whether I’ll even get into these places. Thanks again! Hope you’re right :)

You might want to check out Taylor in Indiana as well…I have two kids there now (my son is a senior and my daughter is a sophomore)…they have both grown dramatically in their faith during their time (which I expected) but I’ve been surprised to see how the growth in their faith has also resulted in a more serious approach to learning that has impacted their academic development. Both have had opportunities to travel and be challenged through study abroad experiences. Just another option you might want to look at.
