My thoughts exactly! I thought that point was understood, but I guess there was a slight misunderstanding, somehow.

"I never said someone with an A- average could "expect" admission. I said an A- average would not keep someone out of anywhere."

What's good of it?

I have never thought that 3.67 gpa at Amherst isn't great.
My point is that there are some areas where even 3.67 is not good enough.
Joe, 3.67 is between 25 and 75 percentile of columbia and new york law.
And yes, the range is the middle half of the range. Therefore, one can't rule out chance of accpetance because of the below average gpa.

In your opinion, which is the best first- year seminar class?

They haven't put a list of the seminars in the course catalog yet to my knowledge, so it's hard to say. They change every year. The seminar's quality largely depends on who is teaching it, so shoot for a good professor. Sarat's seminar, Secrets and Lies, is supposed to be good (although about half the freshman class requested it as their first choice). I had rule of law with Douglas, which was a great class. And my political science professor Corrales mentioned that he was teaching a seminar. He's a fantastic professor, and I would recommend his seminar (although I don't know the topic. It might be something connected to latin america, as that is his area of expertise.) With those three professors, you can't go wrong, but I'm sure there will be a bunch of interesting choices. I'll be able to help more when they are listed in the catalog.
