Best College Application Essay TOPICS?!

What are they!? give me your opinions....

Any topic that is specific/appropriate for the applicant and allows him/her to communicate the essentials of his/her personality/person/accomplishments.

In other words, anything but the worst topics.

I can't really give you the best topics as it is different for every individual, but I can suggest some topics to avoid overall (unless you are a really excellent writer that can make an ordinary topic more than extraordinary).

Avoid:
-winning/losing sports "I've learned the importance of teamwork" essays
-"I've learned so much" camp or job essays
-studying/traveling abroad "my horizons have widened and I am more appreciative of other cultures" essays
-"my parents are my idols" essays
-my great grandparents-or my 3rd cousin twice removed- died essays
-i suffered so much, but I learned so much from it essays
-the college loves leadership and loves Thomas Jefferson, so I'm going to write my essay on the Declaration of Independence
-anything cliche (like above topics)
-most importantly, don't write about anything that you don't care about

is diversity a real popular topic? i knowone of the questions on the common app pertains to it, but do a lot of people choose it?

diversity is a topic many people have to right about. Of the 6 applications I looked at, it is the only topic for University of Michigan and Rutgers University.

how about father passing away? as a topic

hih j

Good essays are personal, detailed, honest, and revealing.

The best topics are the ones that allow for the writing of such essays.

The best topics for one person may not be, probably will not be, the best topics for another.

But virtually any topic can make for a good essay.

It is not the topic, it is what you do with the topic.
