best college at architecture

hey! ive been wondering which college is the best at architecture in us.if anyone has any idea please share with us. thank you in advance.

I know Cornell has an excellent architecture program. I think it is close to the best if not the best.

you mean,better than harvard?

The best college for Architecture in the U.S. is the one that you can get into, be happy with, one that offers the type of program you can excel in, and lastly, the one you can afford. Period.

And the one that allows you to graduate and still be awake :)

You also need to look at the type of degree offered, as there are several options available in the United States. As an undergraduate you can either get a B.Arch,which allows you to practice upon completion, or a BS/BA in architectural studies, which does not. With a BS or BA you’d still need to get an M.Arch in order to practice.

Cornell offers both the B.Arch and the M.Arch. Harvard only offers the M.Arch.

thank you, i got it.

DesignIntelligence ranks programs each year, but take rankings with enough grains of salt to taste, as always: [America’s Best Architecture Schools 2012 | Features | Architectural Record](http://archrecord.construction.com/features/Americas_Best_Architecture_Schools/2012/schools-4.asp)

Find a B.Arch program that’s accredited and that you can afford. Don’t get too hung-up on architectural school ratings. Name of your undergraduate school has little importance once you’ve been working for a few years. Most real architectural training occurs on-job, little relevant training occurs at schools - that’s a reality that’s often discussed in architectural professional journals (not university-sponsored theory-based journals, but practice-focussed magazines and web-sites). Many firm partners note that architectural grads may think they’re ready to assume a major design role in firms, and the reality adjustment can be hard on their egos - particularly for those students who were the studio stars of their school.

@higgins2013-
Can you provide a few names of professional journals/practice-focused magazines and websites?

I have looked the webset you gave, but there are only a few schools(each paragragh has 5 colleges), it is not enough.I am wondering if you have the list of all universities containing the architecture major? And how can I find the list of Design Intelligence?
Thank you.

The National Architecture Accreditation Board is the group that studies and accredits each program. Below is the link to their listing of accredited schools, which is searchable by State and lists whether they have the BArch., the MArch 1 or MArch 2. Or you can just Google “NAAB”.

The link to the Design Intelligence rankings is in an earlier post above.
