Best College Consultants

How do I find the BEST College Consultants for things like reading my essays? I'm looking for a person (or company) with a really good background. Like someone who has been an admissions officer at an Ivy League school.

Is there a certain group (like an Association) that I can search within?

I don't live in a very academically strong district, so there isn't any "solid" people in my area. I am more looking towards people/Associations/Companies that do email/teleconferencing/etc.

PS. My academic record is pretty good (2400 on SAT, math competitions, #1 class rank so far, etc.), so I'm not worried about that.

You’re a very strong student, based on the info. you provide. Try reading “On writing the college application essay” by Harry Bauld. It’s an excellent short book written by a former ivy admissions officer. You don’t need to spend tons of money to have a good essay. Good LucK!!

Lol.

I just read that yesterday! That’s why I posted this. Bauld said parents aren’t good editors. He says to get friends, but my friends write pretty clichedly… That’s why I’m looking for a consultant. Yeah, I’m looking for college consultants with similar backgrounds as Bauld.

Great mind think alike!

Michelle Hernandez, author of A is for Admissions. Howard Greene College Counseling.

I haven’t used them personally, but a couple of my friends used Charles River Editors ([Charles River Editors](http://www.charlesrivereditors.com)) and were pleased with the results. They specialize in Ivys

You can search for a consultant using Higher Educational Consultants Association (HECA) or IECA.

They both require admissions consultants to have certain standards and follow the ethical rules of the association. They have directories of consultants you can find based on your area.
