Hello! I’m currently a Junior (soon to be Senior) from Ohio researching on colleges for accounting/business. My current stats are 4.1W/3.5UW GPA, 30 ACT (have only taken once, planning to take again to reach goal of 32+). I’ve also taken measures to further show my interest in Business Schools by interning at the Finance Department at the Municipal Courts, getting high marks in business courses (accounting, business management, economics), as well as being accepted into the Marketing Club at my High School. Here are some of the colleges that I’m looking at:
- Washington University in St. Louis (extremely reach)
- University of Richmond (reach)
- Case Western Reserve University (reach)
- Syracuse University (match)
- the Ohio State University (match)
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (match)
- University of Wisconsin-Madison (match)
- University of Pittsburgh (match)
- University of Cincinnati (safety) Based off my list, are these appropriate schools for me to apply to for an accounting major? Which of these schools would give me more financial aid/scholarships and less loans? I understand that some of these schools are OOS public, which would grant me little to no aid because they save their scholarships for instate students. Am I wasting my time applying to some of these schools if my family probably will not be able to pay the hefty tuition? I haven't calculated my EFC or the NPC because I don't know how accurate those would be given that my parents are divorced, but I expect that our EFC would be pretty low. Do you guys have any recommendations for other colleges to look into? Excuse me if I'm asking too much; I'm very new to this and am just seeking out some guidance. Thank you!
