Best College Guidbook(s) for Helpful Insights

<p>It impacts the opinions but they are very good on facts and new programs.</p>

<p>Students’ Guide to Colleges/America’s Top 100 Schools (Goldman/Buyers) was our favorite by far for subjective impressions of a school’s personality. May not have been updated for a few years, but that’s probably not necessary since they don’t focus on stats.</p>

<p>This forum is better than any book out there.</p>

<p>One followup question – has anyone used/read The Ultimate Guide to America’s Best Colleges by Tanabe? It gets good ratings on both Amazon and BarnesandNoble…</p>

<p>This is a good topic to have pinned to the top of the discussion board. Is there some channel to ask the moderators to pin a topic?</p>

<p>Another one whose kids all used the Insiders Guide. After visiting colleges with three kids I’d have to say the descriptions are pretty unvarnished.</p>
