Best College in Washington...

What is the best college in WA for a history major, UW, Seattle University, Western, or Gonzaga??? Which of the these colleges is the best overall??

UW, hands down, in my opinion. Generally, the UW has more funding, better professors, more professors, a wider array of courses, and more opportunities for research than the other Washington colleges.

You've forgotten to look at Whitman. But of those you listed, UW.

UW is the best.

Washington State University. Not 'better' than UW but quite good.

Of course Washington State is inferior to UW in academic rankings and reputation. Since when is WSU quite good?

I heard WSU is a party school. Whitman is pretty good for liberal arts.

UW is ranked better than all of the schools in Washington

Whitman, although UPS isn't too bad. If you included NW Oregon, Reed. I prefer smaller liberal arts schools, but I do think that Whitman and Reed programs would be equal to or better than the programs at UW, regardless of school size.

This would be program dependent, would it not?

I would agree with that and also that it can depend on whether there was some specific area of history that one of the schools may have a special concentration in, or a professor who is a recognized authority in that area etc.

However, the poster just said "best school for a history major" which is pretty broad and general. For "general" liberal arts majors, I just think that the LACs are "better" for many students (maybe just a personal bias) than large universities, and Whitman and Reed are excellent LACs.

how tough of a school is UW? is it hard to get an A in most classes?

UW is easily tops, but out of Seattle U and Gonzaga, which is better?
