I am in high school and always get around a 3.0-3.4 GPA .. currently a junior
What is the best school for that gpa?

should i get my chpse (ged) and skip senior year and go to SMC first and try again for a better GPA there?

im not sure what i want to major in also..
what is the best and easiest major for becoming some kind of a doctor like a pysician, chiropractor, or something like that?

is kinesiology a good major or is it worthless?

Do you have any preferences in regards to area/school size?

By the way, if you wanted to go into kinesiology, I’d recommend UConn, and on the higher end of the your GPA scale, along with great SATs, and a good EC list, you’d have a pretty good shot. It’s not too cheap out-of-state, though…

i want the college to be in california though sorry i forgot to mention that

There are a couple of threads re the 3.0+ gpa level student.
Also one for the Western U.S. but that has been quiet but might have some ideas.
You are probably better figuring out what you might want your major to be, rather than us suggesting one. After you do your research we can probably provide some advice.

can you give me some options of good majors for being some kind of a doctor like a pysician, chiropractor, or something like that?

also is kinesiology a good major or not for those kinds of jobs?

im hearing some say its worthless and others saying its good

Look at Whittier in CA, and Sonoma State.

Are you a CA resident? There are out of state GPA guidenlines, so you need to use the GPA calculator for CA colleges to determine whether you are eligible to apply to a Cal State. They need to be higher stats for oos applicants.

I’m a Physiologist (MS in Phys.), so my view is biased. Kinesiology for me is certainly not useless and many of my grad school peers had finished undergrad degrees in Kinesiology or Exercise Science. However, it sounds as though you are considering a different path. If you are considering chiro or med school, then I would suggest majoring in biology. You can earn a minor in Kinesiology, or Physiology. This would allow you to hold off on making any kind of career decision for a while. Keep in mind that med school acceptance is difficult and if you choose that route, then you better make certain that the biology/science program at what ever school you choose is very strong. Look through the Cal State’s and start making a list of the schools known for biology.

UC Davis is too high a reach I think, but it’s one of the best for biology. You might want to consider 2 years in CC then transfer after sophamore year (but it’s also 50K year oos, so wouldn’t suggest this unless you are a CA res.). You could also start your studies at a Cal State, but you’ll have to research which campuses are stronger in the sciences then others. Read through these threads and post questions. They know much more.

How much can you afford? Chapman University in California has a great program, but it’d be a reach for you. Have you looked into any of the CSU’s?

i am a california resident.

i heard biology is a hard major though…
so i dont think I could do that major and pass my classes

im not that smart of a student as you see i only have a 3.0-3.4 GPA most of the time.

i think i can afford any college, because my parents will look into it and get money from places some how

what are other majors that i can be for a doctor sort of a job that aren’t too difficult?

Don’t worry about your major yet. And all sciences will be difficult, so keep that in mind (Kinesiology is not an easy major either). First find the Cal State’s that are within your stat range, like Sonoma State. Start making up a list to apply. Also apply to UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz or Riverside since you are a CA res. Once you have the list of schools that accept students in your range, then start to determine which schools have programs of interest to you.

This will help you determine which campuses to apply to based on stats and majors offered:

[url=Campuses & locations | University of California]University of California - Campuses - The University of California campuses provide environments that foster world-class educational and research opportunities, generating a wide range of public benefits and services.](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>http://www.csumentor.edu/)

Read through all the Financial aid information on the UC’s site (blue, gold). Applications are due very soon, and you should apply to at least 6-8 campuses. Have a safety in mind too, or a “plan B” (community college then transfer). Good luck!

Do you understand that the pre-med pre-reqs are hard no matter what your major is? There is no easy route to med school nor is med school itself easy.

You need to think about whether you have the self-discipline and dedication to become a physician (or other demanding profession).

*im not that smart of a student as you see i only have a 3.0-3.4 GPA most of the time.

*
Then becoming a doctor is unlikely.

*i think i can afford any college, because my parents will look into it and get money from places some how

*

Ok…that’s not really an answer. You need to ask your parents if they’ll pay for a school that costs $55k+ per year. If they say “no”, then you need to ask them what your budget is.

Kinesiology at some schools is very good…at some other schools it is considered kind of a less-challenging major that athletes or future PE teachers/coaches major in. So, it depends on the school.

Do you guys think since I am a junior that I should get my proficiency and leave high school and transfer to a community college and try again for a hope to get a better GPA than before then transfer to a UC or CSU college?

My parents are also willing to pay for my whole college. I am pretty sure we have the money to pay for it.

Have you taken the SAT or ACT yet? If so, what are your scores? Are you an “URM”?

i have not taken the SAT or ACT…
I am thinking of just taking my CHPSE (proficiency exam) and just go to Santa Monica College for senior year… so i can finish faster

what do you guys think of that?

i do not know what a URM is. sorry

It means under represented minority.

OP is a California resident. The UC’s are closer to 30K instate, and Cal States are even less instate, but can’t recall how much.

i still dont understand what a URM is… sorry :/

The responder is asking if you are racially in the minority. Colleges want to increase their diversity and it can help in admissions if you are hispanic, african-american, etc.

oh sorry i understand now.
i am persian (iranian) but i was born in the usa in la, ca
