Best college to attend for RETP program to transfer to GT?

Depending on my final GPA and SAT score in highschool, I might not even be considered for GT so I will also apply to other colleges that have the RETP program. I want to know which one is the BEST and/or as rigorous as GT that have the program. I don't want to go to some college and be able to slack off and pull off A's then when I arrive to GT I completely flunk out as I am not used to the learning environment. Which one would be the most recommended for academics? I am posting this here as maybe someone who is currently at GT will know somewhat which RETP colleges are considered good and which ones are looked down on.

I would also like to know if it would just be better to go to a college that doesn't have the RETP program for one year, THEN transfer. I read on other threads where it listed it is possible to take all the classes needed to transfer in one year instead of two with the RETP program. It would be more competitive to transfer and you would most likely need to put in more effort, but I think this might be a better option for ME. What are your thoughts? I could just have the wrong idea about it. And what college would you recommend for this route if applicable?

Remember that if you do the transfer route you apply for a certain major. So you would need to know which major you are going to do. Also look at those threads for transfer students. It looked like to me some of them had a really high GPA’s and didn’t get in.The reason being is that they only have so many transfer spots. The only way you are guaranteed acceptance into GT is if you do the RETP program. So if you really want to go to GT then I think the RETP program is the way to go. Otherwise you need to pick a college that you would be happy with if you can not transfer to GT.
