Best College Towns

Tuscaloosa AL, Oxford MS, Clemson SC

Blacksburg,Va and Charlottesville, Va

Madison, WI; Chapel Hill, NC; Ann Arbor, WI; State College, PA; Ithaca, NY; San Luis Obispo, CA; Davis, CA; Oxford, MS; not sure Williamsburg, VA, qualifies?

I agree with Cal Poly SLO, Penn State State College, Chico and Davis, and up until this weekend might have thrown in UCSB Isla Vista, Not so sure it is looking good right now.

Went to school at UVA - Charlottesville has grown significantly in the last 20 years and is no longer dependent upon UVA completely.

Second Chapel Hill

Princeton is a great little college town. Surprised that it did not get a mention. So is Northampton where Smith is located.

“Went to school at UVA - Charlottesville has grown significantly in the last 20 years and is no longer dependent upon UVA completely.”

Ann Arbor has grown as well. Still if UVA went out of business, we all know what would happen to Charlottesville.

“Ann Arbor, WI;”

MYOS1634. Shame on you!

^ MI, WI, whatever… Ha!

OOPs… it really was a typo :p

Ehh, Michigan, Wisconsin, what’s the difference? They’re basically the same school

I’d add Norman, OK to the list. Even though it’s a college town, it’s still only twenty minutes away from Oklahoma City.

Old Towne Orange, Calif., adjacent to Chapman University. Charming, walk right off campus and into the town. Clean, safe and gorgeous with the fountain, shops, restaurants etc. A real and historic town. In northern CA, the town of Chico is pretty darn perfect, too (Chico State University).

Okay… MICHIGAN is shaped like a mitten. Wisconsin is NOT (even though sometimes people from WI will hold up their hand as if WI is shaped like a hand to point to where they are from). That is the biggest difference. :)

Norman, Stillwater, whatever…

Morgantown, WV is a nice college town.

no, rjk, a college town is whatever I says it is! [-(

I used to live about an hour from Chico, California (Chico State), and thought it was a great place. It’s 50% college town and 50% cowboy town.

Athens, Ohio (Ohio University) was also a neat town.

University of Michigan Ann Arbor’s campus is gorgeous, and I have a soft spot for Stanford’s as well (the wildlife is just incredible). Most of the other ones I’ve been to have been pretty run-of-the-mill.

San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) for great small town and Berkeley for urban environment.

Santa Barbara is a great town also but the college does not play as important a role in the town as Cal Poly and Berkeley do.
