Best Colleges For Hospitaltiy?

Besides Cornell, which colleges have the best hospitality programs?
Any geographic area. Thanks.

I don’t know how it ranks, but I’m a grad student at U of Memphis in education and I’ve been impressed with the Kimmons Wilson School there. It is housed in a full Holiday Inn hotel on campus.

Michigan State and UNLV.

I know people who have gone to Washington State for that.

Johnson and Wales University

Clemson has a program

Paul Smith’s College in upstate (way upstate) New York

U Mass-Amherst
University of Denver
Fairleigh Dickinson University
Temple University

[AHLA-affiliated Hotel Programs](http://www.ahlef.org/content.aspx?id=20906)

It includes most of the schools suggested plus many others.

I will second UNLV. With ENDLESS opportunities for real experience in town.

UNLV and Cornell have the best Hospitality schools in the US.

Many veterans in the industry have told me that after those two, it doesn’t matter.

[School of Tourism & Hospitality Management - Temple University - Philadelphia, PA, USA](http://sthm.temple.edu/)

University of Denver has a wonderful program, brand new facilities, great internships. Syracuse also has a great program

Thanks for the input. Is anyone familiar weith the program at Purdue?

A friend of mine is applying to Boston University for their hotel program…but I can’t formally suggest it as I know nothing about it other than that.

As a graduate of a 4 year hospitality program I can tell you first hand all programs are not the same.
The ones mentioned do have cache and are well know in the industry, but each offers
different strengths in certain segments of the industry.

Cornell: great school for hotel administration
Virgina Tech: great school for tourism
Johnson & Wales: great school for restaurant side and back-of-the-house

so all these school may offer the same degrees or not.

Some schools programs are in the business dept. Some are in the consumer science, the arts etc. What school of discipline the program is tells a lot about the overall structure of the program.

I was interested in restaurant management and business when I started looking for schools. I also wanted a liberal arts school. Not many schools that meet all these requirements, but I did find them.

My hospitality program was based in the business department. It was also a BSBA degree, which is a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a concentration of Hospitality Management. It is way different than a BA or BS or even a BSA degree.

Ranking schools is a way to start the process of finding a good school. A good school should fit your goals and personality.

PM

UNLV, for obvious reasons.

PaverMaster what program did you attend?

Syracuse:

[SU | College of Human Ecology | Hospitality Management](Home - Falk College – Syracuse University)

PRTM at Clemson as previously mentioned, the tourism industry in South Carolina is pretty big on the shore
