reread what I wrote. I didn’t say with any certainty that he wouldn’t do well. My point was that usually people with his stats don’t do well in engineering. That really isn’t arguable. That’s why people with those stats often aren’t even accepted into eng’g programs. Try getting into the eng’g schools at UMich, Cal, UCLA, etc as a frosh with those test scores.

But, a negative outcome isn’t certain. There have been students with modest test scores that do graduate with eng’g degrees. But the truth is the odds are against them if the material is just too difficult for them. Gen Chem, Cal I, II, II, DifEq, Physics, etc often weed these students out rather quickly.

The weeding for engineering is very similar to the weeding of premeds. After each semester, the number of students who are eng’g or premed dwindles…and often test scores are a good predictor of who will be changing majors.

That’s a huge improvement, if you ask me.
My school is ranked #5 in PA. I’m just an extremely hardworking student. And that was extremely rude of you to say I won’t make it In engineering. I think I’ll be a great engineer. Wow people amaze me.

OP, I stand by my comment which it seems you did not read. I said if you wanted any merit aid at the schools mentioned you needed to get your SAT scores up. Your updated scores won’t qualify you for merit aid either.

OP, you need to be concerned with placement rate, which companies recruit, demand for graduates, etc. There are oil companies that would rather operate in war zones and deal with terrorists than work in PA. The political climate up there is too toxic and a lot of companies don’t want to deal with it. Watch the movie “Promised Land”.

I didn’t say that you wouldn’t make it. I said that some people with stats like your do make it, but many do not. The truth is that many, many frosh eng’g students quickly get weeded out because the work is too difficult. If you get thru it, then great. Time will tell.

211mod0, I respect your post, but I disagree with you. I’ve seen the “Promised Land” movie and I believe it’s a bunch of nonsense and false propaganda. Marcellus Shale is bombing and will be in the years to come. They are just now starting to touch the Utica Shale streak and that will be here for a long time. My dad works for a Natural Gas company, Williams, and big oil giants are starting to swarm to PA like Chevron, Shell, ConocoPhillips and Range Resources, MarkWest, and EQT are all here too. I’ve seen Penn State’s job placement and it’s almost at 100%.
