I am looking around online to see what good options would be for me when it comes to undergraduate college. I am hoping to find a school that has a good pre-vet program or animal sciences program. I’m trying to be cost-aware, as tuition cost and financial aid opportunities will make a big contribution to my decisions. I am currently a student at a boarding school in New Hampshire, Phillips Exeter Academy, on full financial aid. As a result of attending boarding school, I’m wondering if I would be considered a resident of New Hampshire, or if I would be considered a resident of my home state? This would be nice to know because in-state college tuition is much more affordable than out of state. I dream of attending Cornell’s Veterinary School to pursue my DVM after undergraduate school. Any suggestions on great colleges to help me reach my dreams?
Your own guidance counselor can tell you if NH will consider you in-state.
You are a state resident in the state where your parents live. If they live in two different states, you need to check the residency rules for each of those states, you might be considered a resident by both of them.
I know someone currently in vet school who went to University of Vermont undergrad. Here’s a link to their Dept of Animal and Veterinary Science.
