I really want to go into PR, specifically for non profits dealing with cancer (American Cancer Society, Jimmy Fund, etc). I just can't seem to find many schools with public relations majors. Anyone know of any? Or should I just look for good communication programs?

Any liberal arts program that requires you to write, and subjects your writing to editing would be good.

English and history come to mind.

I would look for a good communications program, such as Syracuse:
[S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications : Prospective Students](http://newhouse.syr.edu/Prospective_Students/index.cfm)

Also, how are you looking? The college search engine here on CC found lots of them?

Your ultimate strength in P.R. is much more based on work experience than college program. Any of the small liberal arts colleges will provide a great program, but you’ll do fine at the large state schools as well.

okay thanks for the info!

Internships are KEY for PR, it’s an extremely competitive market. Name is worth taking note of for public relations go for the best school possible. Couple the degree with international affairs.

I don’t think Public Affairs is the same as Public Relations.

Here are the three top programs determined by PR Week

■ Brigham Young University
■ New York University
■ University of Alabama
