Best colleges for theatre?

But remember the starting price for Northwestern is 60 grand a year…

Does UPenn have any theater?

Yes, UPenn has a theatre arts program plus lots of student theater groups.

P.S., I don’t know what your stats are but Fordham has an auditioned BA and they give full tuition scholarships to National Merit Scholars. They also give talent scholarships for theater.

Northwestern gives nearly all need based aid as opposed to merit aid. However, it does have a healthy endowment, and its aid is generous. We are paying less at Northwestern than we would for our in-state university. It will depend on your EFC and Profile application.

Adding to glassharmonica, we know several UPenn theatre students, and they are very happy with their program, which encourages student work, and also has strong relationships with working directors.

Thank you for the quick responses!! I have never heard of their theatre program but I have been receiving a noticeable amount of emails/mailings from them

Also-connections, good to hear about Northwestern’s financial aid. Thank you! I love Northwestern!

If you’re interested in Ivies, and think you have the stats to be considered, then I’d recommend putting Princeton on your list. Take a good look at their program. I know some kids who go there (including a very successful professional child actor) and they are getting tremendous hands-on experience in a variety of ways.

I think someone else mentioned it, but I would encourage you to look at American University in D.C. It has one of the best International Relations programs in the country and a thriving theater program. My D is a sophomore who is pursuing a double major in Theater performance and Public Communications. Many of the theater majors are pursuing double majors and she has been very pleased with the faculty and training she is receiving in her theater classes. It is a BA program, not a BFA.

Besides all that, D.C. is an exciting place to live with many opportunities for internships, etc. Also, my D received a very generous academic merit scholarship from American and I am assuming, if you are applying to Ivies, that you have even better stats than her. One caution though, they take demonstrated interest very seriously and tend to reject if they think you are using it as a safety school.

Good luck!

American is on my list!
I went to an info session for Princeton and honestly it just didn’t appeal to me…
