So long story short My parents moved to Georgia while I was still attending a college in New York. I’m now finishing up my spring semester and I’m a freshmen. Soon becoming a sophomore. I’m planning to transfer to a school in Georgia for my fall semester. GPA is 3.0 And majoring in biochemistry. There are a few schools that I want to go to .
UGA- I can’t go because of transfer admission policies. I need 30 credits by their deadline (April 1st) and I don’t finish until Mid-may. (Any other ideas would be great)
Kennesaw state- Actually my number 1 choice but I heard its not that great from others. I still plan to apply
Georgia state- Also planning to apply soon. But I’m unsure of going to a college in the middle of the city as I am used to quiet campuses.
Any other suggestions? Please tell me your opinions! Thanks !
I would suggest taking classes in the fall at Georgia State. They have other locations besides the downtown campus if you are concerned about that. Then you could apply to UGA or Kennesaw as a transfer and it would give you time to visit both schools to compare, or maybe you’ll like Georgia State and want to stay there. UGA is much more highly ranked if you can get in and if you care about that.
Kennesaw is very much up and coming these days and if possible i think you would prefer over GA state. I would also look at GA Southern as well. not sure what their requirements are.
GA State has received a lot of praise in recent years due to its innovative initiatives. Honestly, it’s perhaps one of the most innovative universities in the country (in terms of attracting low-income and at-risk students and helping them to graduate), yet it doesn’t receive enough attention. These innovations may or may not seem important to you, but I do think that it’s a nice alternative to UGA. I suggest Googling “Georgia State Most Innovative University” if you are curious.
UGA is the obvious draw, but it’s not an option for you. I also like @sdl0625 's recommendation to look at GA Southern.
