Best Colleges in South Carolina?

Ok, which South Carolina colleges would you add to this list of Best Colleges in South Carolina –if any?

We currently have Clemson, University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, Furman, and Wofford.

Does anyone have personal experiences–positive or negative–with any of these schools? Do the descriptions of each school ring true based on your experience? What would you add or change?

I haven’t read the descriptions closely yet…I will tomorrow and will comment… but at a glance, what is the source for the COA and acceptance rate for Furman?

The data in the school profiles on CC is data that schools report that CC receives via Peterson’s. I think the acceptance rate for Furman is correct, but the COA looks way off. (I hope so at least!) I’ll take a look at the data set and see if there is a typo! Thanks for catching.

The Citadel. When you see the ring on a graduate it’s hard to miss. It carries some cache. At least in South Carolina. The grads I met or worked with were impressive. A few were very interesting characters.

I did my MBA at South Carolina many years ago. I would say the descriptions on CC are accurate.

Furman’s campus is beautiful. The professors seemed to be very interested in teaching. The grads I knew loved their experience. It was more conservative back then. Not sure about now. Most campuses today are at least neutral short of Bob Jones U.

I am a Wofford alumni. I had a great experience, but that was a few decades ago. I found a cohesive, supportive community that really prepared me for medical school but also expand my horizons intellectually, especially in the humanities. Very student centric. Strong tradition of sending students out for study abroad. I did some interesting things during Interim ( January term). My professors were great, but most have retired or passed on. Some of my classmates are now Wofford professors!

I assume it is the same in 2022. It may be a little too insular l, conservative, Greek oriented, and small for some. It was the right fit for me coming out of high school.

Pretty sure Furman isn’t 109k a year. And that 71% acceptance doesn’t look right either.

We visited both Wofford and Furman last year. Both are lovely schools, D23 felt that Wofford was too small and too southern. I liked it though. She is applying to Furman.
