With the January 1st deadline now behind us, I figured that it would be a good idea to make a list of schools still open for 2016 RD application. If anyone knows of any other great schools that are relevant, please feel free to comment.
I’ll start off with the ones that I know of, and will update the list as time goes on (assuming someone shows any interest):
Duke - Jan 3rd
Stanford - Jan 3rd
Yale - Jan 4th (Extended deadline)
Johns Hopkins - Jan 4th
UPenn - Jan 5th
Vanderbilt - Jan 5th
Georgetown - Jan 10th
Good luck everyone!
Disclaimer: I am an international student and will readily admit that I am FAR from being an expert on american colleges/universities. The above list includes universities that are, to my understanding, some of the best schools in the US and so I hope that no one takes offense from the inclusion/exclusion of any particular school.
Did you know that many great schools routinely show up on a list of schools still accepting students in May. Usually they are seeking people to fill their “full pay” slots but not always.
@lurkertoposter and @intparent, this is the first I have heard of UChicago extending the deadline for 2016 . Unlike with Yale, UChicago did not send me an email about this, so I believe that it is indeed for domestic applicants only (though I would love to be proven wrong ).
@lostaccount, what schools typically do this? Do you have a copy of such a list?
Any additional information is always welcome!
Update: I just checked UChicago’s website, which states the following-
"Our Regular Decision deadline (January 1) has been extended to January 8 for students who have been impacted by severe weather in recent days. You do not need to ask for permission to take advantage of the extension. If you have been impacted by severe weather, you may submit your application by January 8 at 11:59 p.m. (your local time).
As long as the applicant submits their portion of the application by the deadline, it’s okay for other materials arrive later. The materials checklist will appear in your UChicago account in Mid-January."
I wonder if they would disqualify an application that took advantage of this despite not being affected by the bad weather.
There is s list published in May of schools still looking for applicants. Typically they are schools that did not get their hoped for yield of students accepting by May 1. Last year’s list is not at the website anymore, but here is an article with some of the schools that were on it:
@FreaksAndGeeks It would have been helpful to provide some dates to go with the names
Case Western - Jan. 15th
William and Mary- seems to be Jan. 1st, which would make it irrelevant. (“Admission materials are typically mailed late in the summer before your senior year of high school and are available until our application deadline, January 1st.”)
