I made a college list of great Computer Science programs. Would you agree with me? I’m working on trying to find a great CompSci program that has a small to medium undergrad student size body (4,000 to 30,000) and is in a metropolitan area. What would you recommend for this? Thanks!
PS. I really have been looking a lot into San Jose State University. Its right in Silicon Valley and its supposed to be a great Computer Science program.

Are you an int’l??
What are your stats?
How much will your family pay?
UW has a better CS department than all the colleges you listed and is in Seattle. So, my vote goes there.
@mom2collegekids No, from Ohio. My family will pay up to 45k a year. My GPA is a 3.0 and a 20 on ACT.
@fritzy2019 Is it possible that you may be able to raise your ACT a bit? Many CS programs will require a higher ACT.
I agree with the above comment. An ACT score of 20 will make it very difficult not just for admission to the CS program but for the university itself; I would spend considerable time trying to improve that score at least 6-7 points.
Unless you get your GPA and ACT score up, SJSU will be out. Their CS program is SJSU’s most competitive program with applicants having close to 4.0 GPA and ACT scores around 29-32.
Get the ACT up by studying over the summer and come back once you have an official higher score.
Okay thanks! I might be able to my ACT to a 24
UIUC will be nearly impossible with your scores: the program is very competitive.
I’m not applying there. I would applying to UIC @PengsPhils
UW is not better than U of T. U of T and UBC require ACT scores of at least 26, and probably higher for computer science. Your GPA is too low as well.
@bouders I was doing research into UBC, and they have this program at the Sauder school, which combines business and computer science together. I would be getting a degree in commerce. I think I have a shot in that school.
