well, i want to get into an ivy/ UVA/ MIT... and since i love everything about art, i decided to take alot of art based courses for senior year.. however, im afraid that the colleges will think im slacking:

ap art history
ap calc bc
ap environmental science
ap govt
ap art studio
com graphics
english 12

Doesn't look like you'd be slacking to me. Five APs plus English. Even if AP Art History is seen by some as "not really AP" and AP Envi Sci is one of the easier sciences, I wouldn't think you'd be taking the easy way out. I think that's a pretty solid courseload.

agreed...
Remember to look beyond the sheer prestige factor and the actual department strength. If I'm right for art - NYU Tisch is pretty damn strong/renowned and not mentioned in there

seriously, though, senior year should be fun. drop one or two APs and relax a bit. Having a free period instead of AP art history isn't going to break your applications.

You want to do Art, but you're thinking of MIT??? Ummmmmm. Gee. If you're already doing so many APs, and you think you're faring pretty decently, I'd say consider a school that's more renown for its art programs (which, I think, MIT is not). Tisch @ NYU, for one. :)

Art History is one of the hardest AP courses.

Are you covered for foreign language classes already? Top schools prefer 3-4 years of a single foreign language.

Otherwise, I would say it is a good schedule -- if you like art, the difficulty of the art classes should be ok. AP Gov and AP Enviro Sci are easier AP classes, but if you have already taken some good science and social studies courses, you should be ok.

thanks for the help =) but the thing is i want to do architecture and the collegeboard site says that for arch, ap art history and ap studio is good.... and mit is good for that...

i actually am not really sure what i want to do... but i think i want to do arch
