Best CSUs for anthropology?

I am majoring in anthropology and I want to focus on the cultural aspect.

I'm applying to a few UCs, as I've heard many great things about several programs, but have yet to hear much on any CSUs.

The only CSU I've heard of with a good anthro program is Chico State, however, its reputation is for having a good biological anthropology department, not cultural.

Any insight on any CSUs with good cultural anthropology programs would be much appriciated.

Cal Poly SLO has an Anthropology-Geography major and one of the concentrations includes cross cultural studies.

Cal Poly is not a top choice for anthropology, really. Their anthropology department is very small.

Generally speaking, Cal Poly is known for technology/business.
Just like Humboldt is known for biology/environmental science, and Cal Maritime is for sailors.

Schools that concentrate heavily on one thing tend to devote fewer resources to everything else.

For a broad major like anthropology I would check out the more traditional/rounded CSUs. Usually these are considered to be the nicest ones:
Long Beach
Sonoma
San Diego
Chico
San Jose?
Fullerton?

@discoinferno, thanks! I looked into Cal Poly’s anthro program and wasn’t too on board with how it looked, which is a shame because I have heard wonderful things about the academics there and from the times I’ve visited the campus it looked nice.

Thanks for the recommendations, I will look into all of the schools that you have listed! thanks!
