Specifically, which ones would have the most research and internship opportunities at the university or in the nearby area? I already understand that UCs are more research based, so I’m more interested in knowing about Cal State schools.
CSULB, CSUF, and SDSU all have great psychology programs. Try visiting their websites to browse their programs.
I would add Cal Poly SLO and Pomona to the list. What kind of research are you interested in pursuing since this would be dependent upon the research work the professors at each CSU are currently involved in at the time? Also the type of research work may not be readily available to the public but only to the current students at that specific Cal state and you may not be available to find the information you are currently seeking.
You could check the career centers for each CSU to see the internship postings to give you an idea of the types of internships that are available.
The schools listed above are good but, all those schools are pretty competitive so, they may not be relevant if you don’t have the stats to get in.
what are your qualifications?
@NCalRent My EI is 4750 (ACT 33, 4.06 GPA). If I’m not mistaken, I should have a good chance at the CSUs except for Cal Poly SLO; please correct me if I’m wrong.
@Gumbymom I’m not sure what type of research I’d be most interested in, but probably something related to human biology, immunology, or psychology. I’ll be sure to check out the career center postings like you said.
I would look at San Diego State for Psychology and Human Biology Research. You have a solid GPA and great ACT score and SLO is definitely worth an application.
SDSU CPP, CSULB are good targets, SLO could go either way but is certainly worth an ap.
