Hey everyone. I’ve been kinda confused as to which CUNY school is the best for premed/biology. I heard a lot of people say that Hunter, City, and Queens College are the best, and I really don’t know which one to choose… I was wondering if anyone can give their opinions or share any knowledge they have? Thanks a lot!!!
CCNY, then Hunter, followed closely by Brooklyn College. Hunter is severely overcrowded, so you might experience some level of difficulty registering for your into pre-med classes (Chemistry I/II/Labs, Organic Chemistry, Bio I/I/Labs, Physics I/II/Labs, etc.).
Brooklyn College has the “Coordinated B.A.-M.D. Program” program with SUNY Downstate College of Medicine

@Jamrock411 Ooh okay thanks for answering! So you’re saying that City College is better for premed because it’s easier to get classes there?
So do you know what would happen if you don’t get the class at Hunter College for example? What would you have to do? Just out of curiosity.
And also, I am leaning more towards going to Hunter. I got accepted to City, Hunter, and Brooklyn in the science division, and I wanted to know which teaches better? I guess. Like, which college would be the best in terms of good professors, opportunities, and etc.
thanks again.
Wherever you can get into Honors or Macaulay so that you have priority registration and can pick the best instructors, class times, as well as honors sections/classes.
Are you still on the waitlist for Sophie Davis? Have you visited all three CUNY schools? Have you been accepted into the honors program at any of the three colleges?
CCNY has historically been the leading CUNY College for science and engineering disciplines. CCNY have always attracted the best STEM-related professors. That is the reason why the two recently constructed research facilities were built on CCNY campus. CCNY also has a Physician Assistant Program (switched to a graduate program recently), if that is an option you might wish to explore in the future. CCNY has a medical school and an actual campus (with dorms) and their Post-Baccalaureate program is very popular with students from other universities with medical school aspirations.
The two new state-of-the-art facilities at the south end of the CCNY campus will offer unparalleled research opportunities for pre-med students, not available at any of the other CUNY campuses (Structural Biology, etc.):
“The City College Center for Discovery and Innovation (CCNY)” and “The CUNY Advanced Science Research Center (CUNY)”.

@Jamrock411 Yes I am still on the waiting list for Sophie Davis. And I am currently applying for the Honors Program at Hunter College for premed. And the only college I’ve visited was City College. It is a very very nice campus.
And thank you for the information on City College that was very helpful!
Apply or Honors at City too?
@MYOS1634 no i didn’t get any notifications to apply to any honors programs at city. just honors for Hunter
Do apply even if you didn’t get a notification. Part of CUNY will require you to take initiative like that.
@MYOS1634 I definitely would, but their website said you can only be considered for the Honors Program if you applied to Macaulay Honors, but I didn’t.
"The City College Honors Program:
Prospective first-year students who have applied to Macaulay Honors College will be considered for the City College Honors program."
Email the dean of the honors program and state " Dear Dean x, I would be most grateful if you could consider my candidacy for the CCNY Honors Program. It is of great interest to me ever since I heard about it, as I hope for stimulating discussions on many ideas and thinkers, from… To… To… Such as the ones I discovered in my honors and AP classes. I was not able to apply to Macaulay but hoped I could be considered for the CCNY Honors Program. I would gladly send you graded writing samples, letters of recommendation, essays, or any other documents to support my application. Thank you. Sincerely, … …
Ok thank you!!
@smartkitt you can wait to apply spring semester.
“Continuing and transfer students are considered for spring admission. They should submit a Continuing Student Application.”
