Best Deerfield Dorms

Deerfield is my first choice (I am still yet to apply) and I was wondering what the different girls dorms were like? Which ones are the nicest? What are the people like in different dorms? Is there any really cliquey dorms? Thanks :)

I wanna ask the same about the boys dorms, is there anything that characterises each dorm, geeky ,athletic, preppy etc also which dorms are the nicest.?? i’m accepted and I think they’ll receive my enrollment agreement monday and my deposit was paid Tuesday. But I’ve realized that letting the admissons officers decide where u r supposed to live is the best option.

Most freshman dorms are roughly similar in design, etc. The key difference is that Scaife (for boys) is on the east side of campus, where most of the upper classmen live, while Barton and Field are on the west side of campus, closer to the dining hall, most classrooms, the library, playing fields, etc

does anyone else know anything about the dorms?

The dorms are divided into Boys v. Girls, and then Upperclassmen (Juniors+Seniors) v. Underclassmen (Freshmen+Sophomores). Assignments for incoming students are pretty random (you can’t request one, I don’t think)…

None really have cliques or stereotypes associated with them. Groups of friends will try to sign up for the same dorm at the end of each year, and they might all be part of one social crowd, but its not like one dorm is permanently associated with one type of person.

The most noticed distinction is probably small v. large capacity, and location. John Williams is a boys underclassmen dorm for example, that is very small, and in the middle of campus. If you’re coming into DA as a new student unfortunately you don’t have too much say in where you land. But that’s often a good thing because you usually end up becoming friends with people you might not otherwise.

By the way, we’re trying to keep this thread alive - just so we can focus the DA-related discussion.
