I need help picking my first options for dorms. I have heard that Wildwood is nice but also that it is not well located. I want to be in a sociable area, near the Landis green maybe and definently food halls. But i would also like the newer, larger suite-style dorms. Any suggestions?

you got in already?

This question gets asked a lot so you might want to search the forum here to get more ideas.

However, your dorm experience is only as sociable as you make it. There’s no specific “social dorm” as RAs and hall staff are all required to put on a certain number of events every semester. If you find that the experience isn’t as “sociable” as you want, it really falls on you. The dorm experience is what you make of it.

There’s no dorm that’s located near both of the dining halls (they’re on opposite sides of campus).
Salley is located next to Fresh Food, as are Smith and Kellum.
Wildwood is centrally located.
The new Dorman and Deviney dorms are near Wildwood (but are considered east-side instead of west side like Wildwood, though they’re pretty centrally located too).
Near the Suwanee Room are Landis (Honors-only), Gilchrist (also Honors-only), Broward, Reynolds, Jennie Murphree, Bryan, and Cawthon.

Dorman and Deviney are getting completely rebuilt (and in a new location) and are set to open in the fall. Wildwood and Degraff are under 10 years old. Many of the east-side dorms near the Suwanee Room have been renovated within the last 10 years or so. The room sizes are pretty standard among each dorm, though some rooms are bigger than others within each building.
