I plan on attending LSU in the fall as a freshman, but I still haven't yet signed up for housing. I'm an English major, and none of the residential colleges seem to be designed for students majoring in that particular field.

I hope to find a dorm with decent rooms and somewhat close to where I'm to take my course classes. I've heard the following dorms are decent:
Blake
Evangeline
Annie Boyd
But that is really all I know. Can anybody help me? What are the best dorms at LSU? Which dorms are best for English majors? Which of the three dorms I've selected (Blake, Evangeline, Annie Boyd) is the best?

If you haven´t applied for housing by april 1st you are not promised housing, but if you have put in an application before this date you will get housing no matter what! You can cross Annie Boyd off your list as that is primarily upperclassmen! And if I´m not mistaken Blake is a Residential college. If you´re a girl I would look into Miller or something in the pentagon that are all mostly freshman!

blake is way better than those others. it’s the newest and recently remodeled.

also, pentagon is gross.

evangeline is older, and partly res college for basic sciences
annie boyd is mostly upper class

miller is a pain in the ass because you have to sign in and out all guests, and they have to leave at 8 pm or something ridiculous.

if you’re looking at honors, west laville will be nice

We just toured the dorms…and btw…the cut-off date for guaranteed housing was March 31…but I would submit the application and see if you can get something.

Blake is nice…but it’s an agricultural residential dorm.

The horseshoe dorms are old, but better than you’d think…and convenient.

Herget is wait-listed…and we didn’t get into any of the Pentagon dorms…but I don’t think they’re as bad as they used to be.

NamNammy- If you haven’t applied for housing, you’re not going to be guaranteed housing. There are over 800 people on the standby list. All the res halls are full. Each hall has its own charm. Since there are no res colleges for English majors, you should take a tour and see what fits your personality the best.

the freshman dorms are HORRIBLE, they are small. go on the website and see if you can find good freshman dorms with pics and stuff. APPLY for them now!
