So I might be jumping the gun here a little before I get my acceptance letter ( hopefully!!), but I'm just so darn anxious. I want to know all I can (it's pathetic really) But I was just wondering what students who attend there now think of their dorm rooms. Which is the best, and the worst? Which are the newest and oldest? Funnest? Tell me everything!

From my visit and people i've spoken to...Hayden by far best traditional dorm ... weinstein is a crapshoot but good social dorm - hayden has both social and its good living environment - goddard is on top of a starbucks...if I get in (PLZ GOD) i'ma go for hayden

They all seemed pretty nice to me... hopefully we'll all be calling them home soon.

my hayden room is a double with 4 walk in closets. not bad.

can you live in the apartments as a frosh

Not everyone will get into Hayden - can someone who knows all the freshman dorms say what each one is like and give some pros and cons?

I don't visit this forum very often anymore but happened to check to see how the new MT forum was linked here. Anyway, here you go!

There are several previous threads which discuss the NYU dorms. Here are a few:

Have a look at those then basically, flip a coin. You'll find happy kids and unhappy kids, pros and cons, about every single dorm. Things vary each year and with each different group who inhabit any particular dorm or floor within a dorm. There's no magic answer! :)

the dorm rooms that they took me in on the tour were circular and each had its own bathroom... where were those?

circular rooms? wow what a novelty !

i go to nyu, here's my take on frosh dorms:

Rubin - Cheap, very social, big rooms, solid location (5th ave and 10th st.) not the easiest on the eyes
Weinstein - Got two dining halls in it, but reputed as being terribly antisocial.. the rooms are small and its hallways are not a pretty site
Hayden - Nice rooms, great location (right on washington sq.), little more expensive
Goddard - Never have visited it in my first year (hint).. not too many people there, great location, right above the starbucks on washington sq... never seen the rooms, heard they're alright
Third North - Nice rooms, pricey, worst location of all dorms in my opinion (still not terrible, but bad from a relative standpoint)
Brittany - Very similar to rubin (located between university and broadway, 10th st)
Uhall - Nice rooms but more expensive (have a common room), next to palladium and that dining hall/gym/pool/etc... farther away from main "campus", right on union sq.

The whole 'social' aspect of dorms is going to vary from year to year so it's not very meaningful to base decisions on that factor. People change, dorms change, sociability changes.

NYRock, You're the first one I've ever heard say that Weinstein is antisocial. Ever. In any year.

Hayden is the same price as Goddard and Weinstein. Third North is a little bit more, and the same as UHall.

Rubin and Brittany are the least expensive.
