Best Economics/Political Science programs?

My s was accepted into UChicago, Claremont McKenna and Georgetown's School of Foreign Service — all fabulous institutions. He wants to major in economics and political science, though he also loves physics and would like to keep that door open. He received a merit scholarship from each school, though C-M was the most generous.

He likes the warmth at C-M (both figuratively and literally), but Chicago's economics is world-renown. We know less about GU SFS, other than it's quite prestigious.

His language focus is Arabic, and he'd like to combine economics/poli sci with middle-eastern studies. He plans to go to graduate school.

Any insight or personal experience would be appreciated?

Thanks.

Hi ifmother, My son goes to CMC and majors in economics/accounting, but also takes many govt and political science courses. He absolutely loves it there. Your son has some great choices, so I think in the end it comes down to the all important “fit”. Hopefully, he has had the opportunity to visit all three schools. Whichever he feels most comfortable is probably the one he should go to. The admission rate is 13% this year at CMC, so your son must be a great student and have obvious leadership qualities to get into CMC. Good luck

PS. CMC supposedly has an excellent Arabic dept.

Thank you, Parent57. CMC has offered my son a wonderful package. He loved his visit to the school, and he just glows when he talks about it. We think he’d be very happy there.

there is a lot to be said of Claremont McKenna - it has been opening peoples eyes very much in the last few years, particularly in the areas that you are interested in. That 5 school environment in Claremont is somethink special.
