Best Economics Programmes

Which colleges have the best economics programmes for undergrad? I'd love to know specific reasons why these programmes are good...

The usual suspects:

Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Chicago, Yale, Berkeley, Columbia, Northwestern, Michigan, NYU, Penn, UCLA …

Economics can be heavy with math at the graduate level; a more math oriented program of study can also lead to job and career in more quantitative areas like finance and actuarial jobs.

So you may want to check to see which universities have a sophomore / junior level microeconomics course that uses sophomore level math like multivariable calculus.

Im studying Economics at the University of Iowa and can the program is among the best. I have plans to attend graduate, law, or business school in the future and can say there are a lot of routes for the major than Econ grad program.

Don’t forget LSE! I’m sure you already knew that though… :P

Chapman also has an excellent Economics program taught by a Nobel Laureate professor.

Claremont McKenna College

Good Economics programs are institutions that are highly rigorous in their instruction, heavily grounding the study in quantitative methods, and engaged in current research. Looking at it another way, avoid programs that are ‘fluffy’ (math and stats light) and stagnant in terms of research.
