Best ECs to pick up Junior year?

My freshman and sophomore years have been pretty empty as far as ECs go...I know 2 years in a certain EC isn't exactly as good as 4, but is there anything in particular that may help me out?

So far i've done 2 years of varsity bowling and 1 year of varsity tennis
I just joined youth group and a couple clubs at school

i want to ask the same question aswell..

do your schools have student senate/government?
i would suggest joining that,
putting alot of invovlement in
then getting an executive board/president/whatever high ranking officer position for senior year

also consider interact or volunteering clubs
those are easy to get involved in

Some of the best ECs are the ones that interest you and reflect what you are interested in. Thinking about medicine? Volunteer in a hospital. Journalism – join the school paper. Politics – work for a campaign. Etc. The point of an EC is not to get you into college, but to help you explore and learn about something.

stick with bowling and tennis, see if you can eventually become captain of one of them.

if your school has any clubs related to your possible area of study, that would be a good place to start (if you’re into literature, join the literary magazine, if you’re into chemistry join a science club, etc.)

sounds good, thanks alot
I’m really interested in a career in optometry, so I was trying to brainstorm what kind of clubs, organizations, or internships I could join to reflect my interest…

Bowling i am discontinuing to improve on my grades, and to build on my community service.
Tennis I’ll be doing until I graduate. I could have a shot at being a captain senior year.

Do whatever you’re passionate in, and expand on that.

You’re interested in a career on optometry? Start applying for internships now. You may not have any information, but that’s what internships are for.

Can you choose whether you like tennis or bowling better? If one stands out, and you’re really passionate about it, keep on continuing it.

Are you sure you want to extend your community service? Do you truly feel that you should do more of it? Or, are you just doing it because you think colleges will like it? Unless you’d truly prefer community service to bowling (when colleges are out of the question), don’t quit it.

what if i am interested in business? what kind of stuff should i do?

Try doing regional/state/national competitions in something (like maybe academics).

It’s kind of late to be joining clubs because depending on your school you probably wont get any LD positions senior year.

sounds fair.
What kind of competitions are out there that I could enter? How could I find them?

there are no competitions such as those in my country.! will colleges know that? =s

sounds fair.
What kind of competitions are out there that I could enter? How could I find them?

There are tons of academic competitions out there.

At the school level, you have math teams, decathalon, etc…

At the regional level, you have writing competitions, some math stuff, etc…

At the national level, you have science fairs, national math tests (AMC, AIME, etc..), national teams (USAMO [USA Math Olympiad], USABO [USA Biology Olympiad], etc…), national writing competitions (Scholastic), etc…

The lists go on and on. Try and find something you’re really passionate about and enjoy and go for it. The only way you can fail is if you don’t try =]
