Best EC's?

So this topic has been on my mind for awhile. What are the best ec's? To find the answer I want to formulate a list of outstanding ec's and then hear other cc'ers input. Thus, giving us a list of outstading and unique ec's.

To do this, I want users to list the best ec's they are undertaking or have heard of and then we can find our answer.

It's only fair, so I will start: I've seen several cc'ers that have started their own businesses and I find this to be outstanding and unique.

I kind of wanted to know too!!! Starting a business is very unique!! I agree!!

So this is like a brag thread? Fun :P

I’m ranked #1 in my state for chess and am top 15 percentile for chess players worldwide (this includes adults). Have won close to 50 tournaments/awards for it.

Wow that felt good xD

^thanks. Thats a great thread

no problemo

Oh hey I do chess too! I’m not that good though lol, but four years varsity and they mentioned it in my acceptance letter.

I do music. Won a few competitions, received some honors, play in the best youth symphony in my state. Also am a black belt and fence. I work two part time jobs and have done a good deal of community service.

@Stanfordfuture- by your name I’m guessing you’re thinking of applying to Stanford. We had our reception for my state recently and all of us admitted students went around and shared our ECs. Nationally ranked rock climber, top rower, three people who started their own companies/organizations, one robotics champion, three musicians, one belly dancer, and a few other people with unique ECs.

Congrats on your accomplishments Lagging and those are really unique. And just out of curiosity, what’s a top rower?

It doesn’t matter what EC you’re involved in as long as you attain national or international awards/honors and recognition for it.

Thanks. He does crew and rowing. I’m not really sure what being a top one entails, really good times I’d guess.

@Stanford,
Haha thanks!

How about you? I’m sure you have some hidden talent that you want to share with us :)

No problem. And I have been working on a business plan for a possible venture and I also manage my own stock portfolio

The ones that you’re passionate about and excel at  .

I swear I get sadder every time I get onto CC. Lol. I’m going to be ASB President and Student Board Member for my school district. Or well I will be once I win the elections. Haha

I cured cancer.

^^congrats mrhistory. I’ve never heard of a kid getting on the school board. I just saw it in Northstarmom’s post so nice work

Anyone? 10char

If you’re good at science, the olympiads are very good. USABO, USNCO, and USAPhO are the most well-known. For math, the USAMO series, ARML, Harvard-MIT Math Tournament, and Mandelbrot are good.

There’s a girl near my town who did her girl scout project on going to Tanzania and digging wells to retain water or something. Her mom got her a lot of publicity so I’m sure the project must’ve been great!

But recently some rumors surfaced that she actually used the money to fund herself a wild safari tour in South Africa over winter break…in which case that would be not only unimpressive but completely dishonest T.T But hey, if she managed to pull that scheme off, that’s still impressive…albeit dishonest.
