Best EE specialization to help people?

<p>I want to volunteer and work with organizations such as Engineers without Borders at least for awhile after college. </p>

<p>Am I right in that, power/energy engineering is the way to do so?
Will I be limited to a supposedly dull field with the lowest pay? </p>

<p>I hope to go into law school eventually to prepare for patent law.</p>
