I was wondering, what's the best major you can take if you're hoping to have a combination mechanical and electrical work? I wouldn't mind robotics (though I'm crappy at programming), and I can disassemble/reassemble many things in my sleep, even if I'm only a junior in high school (as of 2009-2010).

Have you heard of mechatronics? there might be a concentration in ME department which deals with that. Its really the combination of the degrees.

Other than that go do EE controls specialization.

Oh and I know auburnmathtutor is going to read this so I would like to apologize for saying that I am not going into nursing because I don’t have breasts, I attempted to take advantage of the double entendre of the word “nursing”, which would potentially be humorous because breast feeding could never be a career. I am in no way a sexist and have some friends with male genitalia who are entering the field. There is nothing wrong with that.

I’m, uh…going to pretend that last paragraph didn’t happen…

…but thanks anyway…

I see you live in San Diego. Your best bet is probably UC Berkeley. Nothing beats a degree that rivals MIT and Stanford at a fraction of the price.

There isn’t really a way to combine EE with ME as an undergraduate, and there aren’t many jobs requiering the skillsets for both of those majors. What I would recommend doing is majoring in one or the other, and doing graduate work in robotics when you graduate, witch is probably as close as you can get to being both an EE and a ME. However, you will probably find by that point that there is little reason to work with both EE and ME.

Also, FYI, just because you can take apart technology does not mean that you will definatly enjoy engineering. Engineering requiers a vastly different skillset that that of taking apart technology/reassembleing technology. Only major in engineering if you like math and physics as well as technology, else you will be very unhappy in college
