different rankings tell different schools are good for engineering
some say georgia tech is good(THES) while some say gatech is too big and the quality is not that good.
i get a lot of mixed opinions about many colleges like harvey mudd, ucb, cooper union etc
same goes with duke, yale, cornell etc.
can anyone once and for all settle this issue
please tell me which are the best colleges for engineering in terms of employment oppurtunities
like for eg. after graduating from which college will i get the hottest job offer with the highest salary package
i am a int'l and i will be taking a lot of loans. so a big job is a MUST.
please help!!

This post is crazy. The reason you got mixed opinions on these school is because there are mixed opinions. There isn't some tablet sent down by god that has a ranking of the best engineering schools. No one can "settle" this issue because it's opinion based. That's like asking us if we can settle whether Coke or Pepsi is better.

In addition, your salary isn't that dependent on your school.; it all depends on what you do in college, your grades, your personality, your knowledge of engineering, and a bunch of other variables as well.

TO your list you will find that a lot of the 'Big 10' public schools are very well respected in Engineering. You mention you are an international, so you should understand that american society (while by no means is a pure meritocracy) sees more of a what you do with an opportunity as important than just where you graduate from. The other issue is that you have to improve all the time and cant rest on your laurels.

So to add to your confusion these are engineering schools that I think most peopls would view as in the upper tier ... in no particular order and that tend to be good for employment

Ga Tech, Purdue, UCB, Stanford, Minnesota, MIT, Illinois, Texas, Cornell, Wisconsin

Duke, Yale while great schools are not known for engineering. Cal Tech aswesome but more research ..

If you are getting lists then make multiple spreasheets and average the rankings if that makes you feel better ...Also it depends on where you can get in!! and where you feel comfortable.

A good freind of mine Vietnamese, went to Texas Tech, because during the Vietnam war met soem texans and went to where he coudl get in.. highly successful engineer... just some thoughts
