what are the top engineering schools (college and university) in america at the moment? and what are their age restrictions (like 18+ or 21+ etc) if any

Mit, Cmu, Uiuc

Where are you from?

Cornell
Princeton
Stanford
Northwestern
Berkeley
Michigan
Rice
Illinois
Carnegie Mellon
MIT
Caltech
Maryland
Johns Hopkins
Georgia Tech

I don't see how UT-Austin can be left off the list of the top engineering schools, considering it has the highest number of faculty elected to the National Academy of Engineering of all but 4 schools on that list.

By faculty membership in the NAE (membership is considered one of the highest academic honors and engineer can attain)

MIT 109
Stanford 85
Berkeley 75
UT-Austin 49
Caltech 30
Illinois 29
Georgia Tech 26
Cornell 24
Carnegie Mellon 21
Princeton 21
Northwestern 18
Rice 12
Maryland 11
Johns Hopkins 10

what about if you don't want a phD and those schools were too difficult. would cal poly and a few other UC's qualify as not necessarily best but better?

^ Definitely. You don't need a PhD in engineering, unless you're going to teach the subject.

quote from collegehelp-''Where are you from?

im from nigeria'not the US...are liberal arts colleges in the US good for engineering students and do any of these colleges have a minimum age restriction?

There is no single best, but there are those that are better or worse for you.

You can't get better than the likes of MIT, Stanford, CMU, Berkeley, Cornell, Caltech.

Liberal Arts Colleges with engineering include
Bucknell
Smith (women's)
Lafayette
Swarthmore
Harvey Mudd

no age restrictions, but you have to meet admissions requirements

Rose Hulman top Engineering school 9 years for US News (college without phd)

harvey mudd is a LA school? i've only heard good things would it's math/science/engineering never LA

and why is cal poly not categorically qualified for that list? i'm sure it's top 69

could harvey mudd's engineering program be compared to that of MIT, stanford, Caltech and cornell?

Harvey Mudd is typically considered in league with the top tier engineering schools such as those mentioned in the previous list.

Calpoly does not offer PhDs so it is placed in a separate list.
