I'm about to apply to many top colleges (I'm turning in my columbia app. today) but I'm not sure which ones have good environmental programs... What's the best school to go to if I'm going to major in environmental studies? The colleges I'm applying to are the following:
Yale
Stanford Reed
UC Berkeley UC Santa Cruz
Columbia Amherst
Pomona Beloit
Hampshire

-But I could just apply to a different school next year, because I' think I'm going to take a year off.

Hello! I am a prospective enviro-er...and I can tell you a lot about certain programs.

Judging by your list...you definitely want to go to a school with a strong liberal political bent. So look into College of the Atlantic as a safety.

Also look at Bowdoin. It's REALLY strong in enviro, and it's surprisingly balanced and deep for such a small school.

Bard has a 5-year program, you get Bachelors and Masters degrees in the whole process. You can veer toward science, or toward economics & policy.

And the location for "environment" cannot be beat.
