-My major interests are Biology, Behavioral Sciences, and Engineering.

-I am looking to stay in the tri-state area (I live in New Jersey).

-My freshman and sophomore scores were underwhelming to say the least, but I have caught up with myself, going to about a 3.2 with only the half year courses counted.

-I did the math and at the pace I am going at, I will have a 3.67 by graduation.

-I also had a 1730 SAT first try and 1980 second try. My composite ACT score was a 30.

-Generally my most coveted qualities of the school is a beautiful campus and challenging academics, with a less important but still important quality of being a relatively small school.

Well I’ve talked with my parents, and they said they can afford up to $35,000 yearly tuition. I don’t want to use that as like my expectation, I want that to be my ceiling. You get what I’m saying?

These might be stretch schools for you, but definitely check out Lehigh and Lafayette (technically, not “Tri-state” but close enough to New Jersey). Jackuk

Alfred University (NY) established in 1836.

COA is about 38k/year, depending on your major, (Art & Design & certain Engineering Majors are through NYS) Liberal Arts & School of Business are private programs.

Small classes, know your professors, Division III Athletics, no Greek Life, housing all 4 years, merit aid, need based aid, shuttles to Rochester airport at peak break times, buses to NYC at peak break times. Honors Program, (must interview for Honors Program) Co-op Program for engineering. About 2,300 undergrads, in small friendly town.

Alfred State is across the street from Alfred University, so it is a college town.

Dear Fitzfan, you are right, both Lafayette and Lehigh are higher than your budget, but (assuming that these schools do interest you) you do have a year to investigate whether you can bridge the gap through financial aid, work study jobs, scholarship, etc. Also, while I am not an advocate of taking out large college loans, if Lehigh is your dream school, it may be worth it to consider taking out loans. I have a couple of friends here who are Lehigh engineering grads and moved into investment banking. Both of them are extremely successful and have long ago paid off their student loans.

Manhattan College is very good for engineering majors. Some others to possibly check into are Muhlenberg ¶, Fordham, Hobart William Smith (NY) and Marist (NY). Best of luck!

I second the TCNJ recommendation - good suggestion dblazer.
Might (a slim might) be able to get enough Merit for Fordham or Union to meet your budget.
Not a SUNY expert but there must be at least one that would work.
