Wheres the best grub at Pton? I've heard good about Hoagie Haven, The Annex, and some B & B place...what are the most inexpensive/flavorful/worthy spots?

there is a site for your question on the Class of 2009 page at Pton.edu

haha alrite but thats one person's biased opinion...a collaboration of biased opinions is better.

point.princeton.edu and check the restaurant listings

best value- Hoagie Haven. cheaper than fast food, and much better.

best Buffalo wings- Chuck's Spring Street Cafe

notable pizza- Old World Pizza. kinda gourmet, gourmet price too.

very "Princeton" sit-in- PJ's Pancake House

Princeton's take on Fridays- Winberie's

for ice cream- thomas sweet cheapest, halo pub medium, the bent spoon most expensive

Yes, you have to check out Chuck's Spring Street Cafe. It is really good.

how about on campus, which dining halls have the best food? i heard forbes has a good brunch....

halo pub is way cheaper than thomas sweet, its like 1.50 for a medium cone :-D yummm

The Bent Spoon unquestionably has the best ice cream. While it is more costly and smaller than Halo Pub's and T Sweet's ice cream, they not only have a far better variety of flavors than the other two stores (Cardamon ice cream, Avocado ice cream, Vermont Maple ice cream -- and organic), but the owners, rather than local kids work there almost all the time. I think that makes for a much better atmosphere than the more typical atmosphere at Halo Pub and the circus-like atmosphere at Thomas Sweet's, since the employees / servers don't have as much of an interest in making sure you're satisfied. What's more, often times if you ask the owners at the Bent Spoon for a particular flavor, they'll make a batch of it in the next couple of days. Their cookies, hot drinks, and cupcakes are also excellent.

I feel that Halo Pub is a pretty solid ice cream store -- they have some good mix-ins and a nice ambience, but the Bent Spoon is superior in every way.

I've become increasingly disillusioned with Thomas Sweet's as the year went on. At first, I thought they had some cool flavors and mix-ins, but Halo Pub has better mixed types of ice cream in a nicer atmosphere, and the Bent Spoon's ice cream is far better, and you don't need to eat as much ice cream to feel satisfied. Why pay just as much money to get fatter and only as satisfied? What's more, T Sweet's tends to employee teenagers from around Princeton. When I went there one evening with my OA group, they were totally incompetent! It took them forever to attend to us (we were the only customers in the store), and one employee needed our help -- after five minutes of us waiting around -- to make change out of a $20 bill. T Sweet's is suitable for a five year old -- unless you really love their fun-house mirrors, Bent Spoon has better and more satisfying ice cream, while Halo Pub is cheaper and has more interesting mix-ins.

Also, I find that the dining halls' food tends to be pretty equal, in the end. I would agree that Forbes has the nicest ambience for brunch, but the food isn't really any better, and you're not going to be on the patio from November - March, so . . .

I live in Wilson, and I've found both Wilcox and Wu to be satisfactory. Sometimes the dining staff can be a little rude, but the facilities are pretty good and the food is just as good as the other dining halls. Wilcox also has a nice patio outside with tables that faces a long walkway from the Math and Physics buildings.

In truth, the only terrible dining experience I've had came at a brunch in Rocky's dining hall -- bizarre, because I feel that Rocky tends to have the best lunch (Wilcox and Wu are packed at lunch because people have classes near them). Eating brunch with my girlfriend, one of the omlette chefs totally screwed up the omlette, such that some parts were totally burned while other sections dripped with raw egg. I don't want to seem the spoiled brat here, but it seems reasonable that if Princeton is going to offer an omlette bar to its students (a nice perk) , their cooks should know how to cook said omlettes.

Tunanfish's right on about the Bent Spoon, and all the rest of the ice cream, for that matter. The Bent Spoon ROCKS.

My assessment of the T-Sweets/Halo Pub debate is that it depends on what kind of ice cream you like. If you like random flavors, T-Sweets. I love their Midori melon sherbet. If you like vanilla with chunky things mixed in (chocolate, nuts, fruit), Halo's your place. That's not my style. But Bent Spoon > all, especially if you're on the random-flavor side of the scale.

Also, lest you freeze your fingers off, the Bent Spoon has many different kinds of hot chocolate through the winter. Mexican-style spicy, and a hot white chocolate with lavender flavor that's good too. There's also really good apple cider...

I've had that problem with the omelettes myself. I think it's because they're trying to do them too fast... you just can't cook a full-size omelette in three minutes, y'know?

hey personally, i like the locals.

Yeah, the problem seems to happen a lot more on Sundays, when they cook the omlettes in the smaller pans rather than on the grill surface, which allows them to cook the thing more slowly & evenly.
