What are the top 5 universities for engineering (overall) in the midwest?

Uof Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Northwestern University!

Illinois, Mich., Purdue, Wisconsin, Northwestern.

Can you rank them from 1 to 5?

The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is ranked #1 in engineering for colleges whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's degree. It's in Terre Haute, IN

Depends on the major.

^ very very true

Purdue isn't at the very top but it's well respected and it's one of the largest engineering schools in the U.S.

overall eng ranking - US News
1. Illinois
2. Michigan
3. Purdue
4. Northwestern
4. Wisconsin

Is Pittsburgh in the midwest? If so, then Carnegie Mellon would top the list. Pittsburgh is a little bit east of midwest, putting it in the Middle East.

I don't think Carnegie Mellon tops Illinois, other than CS, CSE, EE, and other things related to robotics and CS, it is really not better than the big midwestern publics.

oh, and Collegehelp, we in Pittsburgh generally refer to ourselves as in the Mid-Atlantic, not Middle East (LOL)

Wisconsin-Madison, I went to an engineering program at the University of Wisconsin, and I must say that the school has excellent engineering resources.

Washington University is not bad for engineering either

university of Iran is also good

Boomer, I would go with the following groupings:

GROUP I
Carnegie Mellon University
University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

GROUP II
Northwestern University
Purdue University-West Lafayette
University of Wisconsin-Madison

Other notable Engineering programs:
Case Western Reserve University (primarily for Biomedical Engineering)
Pennsylvania State University-University Park
Rose Hulman Institute of Technology (LAC-style Engineering school)
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (primarily for Chemical Engineering)
Washington University-St Louis (primarily for Biomedical Engineering)
